In Lelo for Georgia welcome the return of the ex-president to politics
The leader of the Lelo Party for Georgia Mamuk Khazaradze positively spoke about the intention of former Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili to re-engage in political activity, the agency InterpressNews reports. "I want to tell you that Georgy Margvelashvili was the president who did not allow [the leader of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, businessman] Bidzina Ivanishvili to take under the mouse this significant institution. This is very important and, accordingly, I welcome his return to politics, Khazaradze said. Leader Lelo added that he had not yet discussed the issue with the ex-president. Let s remind, Margvelashvili declared his return to politics on February 12. The reason for this was the growth of Russian influence in Georgia, which has allegedly been observed since the summer of 2019. It should be noted that in October 2012 Margvelashvili became the Minister of Education in the government headed by Ivanishvili, and in February 2013 became his deputy. With the support of the Georgian Dream Party, he became President of Georgia in November 2013, replacing Mikhail Saakashvili. Hazaradze was then part of the Georgian Dream.
