France's state budget deficit to rise to 3.9% of GDP
The coronavirus epidemic will have a significant impact on France's economy. This, according to Le Figaro, is evidenced by the figures presented by the Minister of Budget of the country Gerald Darmanine. According to him, the state budget deficit will grow to 3.9% of GDP in 2020. By comparison, the government deficit was 3.2% at the end of 2008, at the beginning of the economic crisis. Gerald Darmanin also stated that one should not worry about the situation at the European level, where the commission imposes on member states a deficit of less than 3% of their GDP. Indeed, at the end of last week, the European authorities assured that they would be flexible in their standards, not wanting to further punish countries affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. According to the news agency, earlier French Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire said that the country is in economic and financial war.
