Most coronavirus patients in China received TCM drugs

Most of the 50,000 recovered from the new coronavirus in China received traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) drugs, Xinhua reported on March 9. The Deputy Head of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yu Yanhong, said during a press conference in Beijing that the approach of the combination of Western medicine and TCM in the treatment of coronavirus pneumonia patients had demonstrated its effectiveness. TCM preparations were used in the treatment of 74,603 patients who were confirmed to be diagnosed with COVID-19 nationwide or 92.5% of the total number of infected. According to the expert, this approach gives much faster results than in treatment of patients only by one of two methods. Treatment with the use of TCM preparations is oriented on activation of natural protective mechanisms of the human organism and on its own forces of overcoming the disease. At the same time, the treatment of TCM is individual depending on the geography of residence and individual features of the patient, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission of China Zeng Isin said.
