Coronavirus failed to deprive profits of China's big three telecommunications operators
The profit of China's big three mobile telecommunications operators for the first quarter of the year reached 32.5 billion yuan (about $4.59 billion), while the share of users of 5G networks increased, according to Xinhua news agency. Chinese telecom operators China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, despite the damage caused by the new coronavirus epidemic, increased their net profit by 0.8%, 2.2% and 13.9% annualized for the first quarter of the year. Companies are firmly following the trend towards digital transformation of the country's economy and society, moving towards commercialization of fifth-generation communication networks. At the end of March, the share of 5G users from operators China Mobile and China Telecom reached 31.72 million and 16.61 million, respectively. China Unicom, responding to the challenge of the new coronavirus epidemic, continued to introduce the latest technologies like big data, artificial intelligence and 5G. In turn, China Telecom actively continues to understand new information public request caused by the epidemic, offering new cloud services and applications.
