Brazil and Britain have a deal to produce a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2
The Brazilian Ministry of Health has entered into an agreement with its colleagues from Britain to produce a vaccine for coronavirus, which was created by Oxford University together with the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca Plc. This was reported on June 27 by Bloomberg. According to the source, Brazil will purchase the vaccine itself, as well as all the components that are necessary for its production in the total amount of $287 million. It is specified that for the first batch, the Brazilian side, regardless of the results of clinical trials, will have to pay $127 million, and for this money Brazil will be delivered 30.4 million doses in December 2020 and January 2021, as well as transferred vaccine technology. Later, when the effectiveness of the acquired vaccine is confirmed, the Brazilian research institute Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) will produce another 70 million doses of it. Note, as reported by the news agency, Brazil is currently in second place in the world after the United States in the total number of infected SARS-CoV-2, of which more than 1.2 million have been identified in the country.
