Gemstones and metals account for more than 50% of Tajikistan's exports

In the period January-May 2020, Tajikistan delivered precious and semi-precious stones and metals abroad in the amount of over $303.8 million, which is $260.7 million more compared to the same period in 2019, the Statistics Agency under the President of the country reports. The total amount of goods exported by Tajikistan for the five months of 2020 year amounted to $ 598.4 million, of which 50.7% is the profit received by the state from the sale of precious and semi-precious stones and metals. It is noted that the export of these products since the beginning of 2020 has increased seven times. At the same time, the amount of imports of precious and semi-precious stones and metals for the reporting period amounted to over 837 thousand dollars, which in comparison with the same period in 2019 is less by 63.5% or 1.4 million dollars. However, accurate information on which countries Tajikistan exports precious metals is not yet available.
