Ahmadinejad called for stopping the war in Yemen
Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for an end to the conflict in Yemen in a letter to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, leader of the Shiite movement in northern Yemen, Ansar Alla (Houthis) Abdel Malik al-Hussi and UN Secretary General Antón Guteres. About this July 27 writes the newspaper The New York Times. Ahmadinejad proposed the creation of a committee that will consist of authoritative politicians from around the world. At the same time, the publication notes, the appeal to Mohammed bin Salman is unusual, since Saudi Arabia and Iran are the most ardent opponents in the region. In turn, the spokesman for the Iranian mission to the UN, Alirez Miryusefi, urged not to exaggerate the significance of the letter, since the views of Ahmadinejad, as a private person, are not related to the policies of the Iranian government and administration. As the news agency previously reported, Ahmadinejad was president of Iran for two consecutive terms from 2003 to 2013. He is an ardent anti-Americanist and became famous for his incendiary and not always correct speeches against American imperialism and Zionism.
