Scientists have established the main places that were the source of slaves for the United States
Most of the slaves who were brought to the United States lived in the territory where Nigeria is currently located, The New York Times reports, citing a study by American scientists who studied DNA samples of about 50 thousand people. Also, according to scientific work, modern black residents of the United States are descendants of blacks who came from the territories of Senegal, the Gambia and Benin. The study found that most of the slaves brought into the country were women. According to the news agency, in April 2019 it became known about the results of the scientific work of associate professor of Newcastle University Hannah Durkin. She managed to find out that a slave named Redosha was recognized as the last survivor of the slave trade between the United States and African countries. Comparing the finds with the information of the archives, Durkin found out that the prisoner was abducted from the territory of modern Benin at the age of 12 in 1860.
